Grace House Ministries celebrated 15th Year Anniversary and Grand Re-Opening, September 30, 2007.

Grace House Ministries Inc. celebrated its 15 year anniversary and grand re-Opening, on Sunday, September 30, 2007 at 2:00pm. The celebration was held at Grace House I, The Melva Langford House; 4911 Farrell Ave, Fairfield, AL 35064.
Abused, neglected, and abandoned are just a few of the words to describe the young ladies who come to live at Grace House.

Grace House Ministries, Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides a Christian home for girls from crisis backgrounds ages 6-18. Young women are loved, nurtured, trained, and encouraged to become mature, godly women by the wonderful individuals who serve as houseparents and manage their day to day activities.

Grace House has a mission to help stop the cycle of dependency and poverty plaguing young children’s innocent lives. Residents grow to maturity at Grace House except in rare cases when their own families have been healed and their homes become positive environments.

For over 30 years, the founder Lois Coleman, affectionately known as “Mama Lois”, by the young ladies of Grace House and the community at large, took girls from crisis backgrounds into her private residence and cared for them.

In 1989, Mama Lois enlisted other generous and caring individuals to help her form Grace House Ministries, Inc.The fledgling organization was founded upon the scripture, “Grow in Grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”(II Peter 3:18). The first home, Grace House I, became home to 8 young women in 1992.

Throughout the years over 80 young women have called Grace House home and have grown up to lead successful, positive lives.

In 1999, Grace House Ministries the Campaign for Grace Village. The Campaign was completed in 2001, reaping 2 new homes. Grace Village now consists of 3 homes for the girls and an administrative office. In 2002, the original Grace House home, Grace House I was closed for renovations.Today Grace House I, The Melva Langford Home, is newly renovated and home to 8 little girls, ages 6-11, Grace House III is home to 8 teenagers, ages 15-18, and this month Grace house II will become home to 8 moregirls ages 12-14.

Happy, healthy, intelligent, and optimistic are just a few words to describe the young ladies who reside and move on from Grace House.
